many successful businesses do, Nicolet Service Center started with little more than a
dream. Owner Dick Fritz began his career as an auto body specialist in 1956 and, while
employed at Sarath Auto Body, Dick felt that there would be a growing need for advanced
and professional auto body repair as the Rhinelander area grew. This desire to provide
complete and comprehensive auto body repair and refinishing led Dick to lease a service
station on Lincoln Street in 1960 where the burgeoning service center started to develop a
reputation for outstanding quality work and friendly service.With an eye on the future, land was purchased on County Highway G for the eventual development of a larger and more modern body shop facility. Dick realized that the Highway G location would be ideal as the city was planning to create a bypass around Rhinelander effectively turning Highway G into one of the main feeder routes into town. Though Lincoln Street was quickly becoming the highest traveled road in Rhinelander, it also suffered from traffic congestion and did not suit Dick's ideal of a great location. Ground was broken and construction began on the Highway G location in the early 70's and, on June 26th, 1973, Dick's dream was fully realized with the grand opening of Nicolet Service Center's brand new facility. 
Dick's son, Stan, joined the growing
business in 1978 and has continued the goal of being the best body shop in the Northwoods
into a second generation. Over the past 20 years, Nicolet Service Center has continued to
flourish and grow through careful attention to new techniques and equipment, advanced
training, and, as always, attention to the customer. Eventually, Dick, Stan, and the
entire staff realized that to continue to embrace the latest technologies that would best
serve their customers, they would need to grow yet again. 1997 saw this come to pass as
Nicolet Service Center increased their total workspace to over 6000 sq. ft. and installed
the latest innovations in auto body repair and refinishing including a semi-downdraft bake
spray booth, computer estimating, in-house color mixing stations, and frame and unibody
straightening machines. As Dick enters his 40 plus years in the auto body repair business, he is very proud of the business that Nicolet Service Center has evolved into and the outstanding reputation that they have earned over the years. Dick, Stan, and the entire crew are excited to continuing serving our Northwoods customers for many years to come and look forward to meeting you to address your auto body repair and refinishing needs.
